Stanley je začínající student herectví, který prožívá svůj první milostný vztah. Ve škole se snaží zapůsobit na despotickou vedoucí ročníku Hannah, pod jejímž vlivem v sobě odhaluje ctižádost i netušený talent. Když se spolužáci pro závěrečné školní představení rozhodnou inspirovat sexuálním skandálem, do kterého je zapletena sestra jeho přítelkyně, ocitá se Stanley v morálně velmi svízelné situaci… Zkouška režisérky Alison Maclean je zdařilou adaptací prvotiny novozélandské spisovatelky Eleanor Catton, jež je nejmladší držitelkou prestižní literární ceny Man Booker Prize. 

Stanley is a first year drama student who is experiencing his first love affair. At school, he is pushed by the domineering head of acting Hannah, to uncover his talent and ambition. When classmates decide to use a sexual scandal involving the sister of his girlfriend for the final school performance, he finds himself in a very difficult moral situation … The Rehearsal is director by Alison Maclean, who successfully adapts one of the first works by New Zealand writer Eleanor Catton, who is the youngest recipient of the prestigious literary Man Booker Prize.
